How To Flash CodeName Android ROM On Samsung Infuse 4G [TUTORIAL]

Owners of the Samsung Infuse 4G SGH-i997 have been left wondering whether or not they will get the Android 4.1.1 update. We don’t think there will be any other way to get the firmware on the device, apart from installing a custom ROM. One such ROM is CodeName Android released by XDA Developers’ member Th3Bill. It’s based on JRO0L build.

How To Flash CodeName Android ROM On Samsung Infuse 4G [TUTORIAL]

Before rushing on to the tutorial, you should keep note a few pre-requisites. The instructions you’re going to view are applicable only on the Samsung Infuse 4G model number SGH-i997. They won’t work on any other device or model. To avoid interruption during the process, make sure you charge the battery up to around the 80% level. Next, you should disable security software capable of accessing the device. You can also create a backup of any important files. Your device ‘Infuse 4G’ should have ClockworkMod Recovery installed prior to the instructions. Please note you’ll be following the guide at your own risk. iJailbreak won’t pay for any damages if anything unfortunate occurs.

Installing The CodeName Android ROM On Samsung Infuse 4G SGH-i997 Step 2: Copy the downloaded ROM file in step 1 to the internal SD card of the device.

Step 3: Switch off the Infuse 4G and boot the phone into ClockworkMod Recovery by pressing and holding the Power, Volume Up and Volume Down button until the screen turns bright and the recovery menu shows up. Here you can scroll using the Volume keys and use the Power button to select an option.

Step 4: Create a Nandroid Backup of the current ROM as anything can go wrong with the new one and you may have to revert back to the previous ROM. To do this, select ‘Backupa and Restore’ > ‘Backup’.

Step 5: Select wipe data/factory reset and confirm the action on the screen that appears next. Now select wipe cache partition and confirm the action again.

Step 6: Select ‘Advanced’ from the main menu and select wipe dalvik cache. Confirm the action on the screen that appears next.

Step 7: Select ‘install zip from SD card’ > ‘choose zip from SD card’.  Search for the ‘.zip’ file of the ROM that you copied in step 2 to the internal SD card and select it to begin the flashing process.

Step 8: After the flashing completes, select ‘Go Back’ > ‘Reboot system now’.

The device will now reboot (it will take a few minutes so be patient and don’t panic), and you’ll have the new CodeName Android ROM Android 4.1.1 on the Samsung Infuse 4G SGH-i997. Feel free to leave comments if you experience any troubles or have questions.
