New York Times Android app updated with tablet UI

 

More and more apps are slowly being released with redesigned user interfaces specifically with Android tablets in mind. From Netflix to the recently updated YouTube and more. Today the New York Times has just updated their popular Android app complete with a brand new redesigned UI specifically for Android tablets — and it looks pretty.

For those that love to keep up on world news, trending topics, fashion, politics (Fox doesn’t count) and everything else the New York Times Android app is a good place to start. If they’re a national publication you like you’ll be happy to try their new app. Shown running on the Nexus 7 in portrait mode it looks quite nice.

Today’s update really improves the tablet experience to use all of that screen real estate. They have neat menus to easily navigate, and overall it looks quite nice. You’ll now enjoy multiple columns, scaled and larger HD images, as well as perfectly scaled typography. They’ve also updated the alerts to be customizable for how you will receive breaking news alerts right on your smartphone or tablet. Here’s a few pictures:
