Toshiba Starts to Sell New Breed of Solid-State Drives with 19nm NAND Flash

Toshiba Corp. one of the world’s largest manufacturers of NAND flash memory, on Wednesday said it had begun to ship its new-generation solid-state drives based on multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash made using 19nm process technology. The new product series offer similar levels of performance as the drives unveiled in mid-2012, but boost data protection and, possibly, improve some other things. Toshiba’s THNSNH family addresses the storage, performance and power efficiency demands of high-end notebooks, desktops all-in-one desktop PCs and industrial systems. Just like the previous-gen THNSNF-series, the new breed includes 2.5” (both 7mm and 9.5mm) SSDs with 60GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities as well as mSATA solid-state drives …
