Toshiba reduces mobile chip power use by two-thirds with new cache memory

Toshiba has announced the development of a new type of cache memory that promises to cut mobile processor power consumption by as much as two-thirds. Today’s mobile processors rely on high-speed static random-access memory (SRAM) to function. The problem with SRAM is it will only retain data when power is applied. That data also has to be refreshed regularly (many times a second), meaning it is a constant drain on a battery. And as chip performance has increased, so has the power required for SRAM and the leakage that occurs, meaning an alternative is highly desirable. Toshiba has developed STT-MRAM to solve the problem. MRAM is non-volatile memory, meaning it …

Toshiba Satellite P845t-S4310 Review

When we reviewed the Toshiba Satellite P845, we praised its attractive design, loud speakers and low $ 599 price. With the release of Windows 8, Toshiba has taken that system and added a touchscreen and Microsoft’s new operating system. The result is the $ 799 Toshiba Satellite P845t-S4310, available exclusively through Best Buy. While pricier than regular laptops, this 14-incher is much cheaper than Windows 8 convertibles. Find out if this touch notebook is a good value. The top of the deck sports Harmon/Kardon speakers, which are covered by black grilles with chrome accents. The P845t’s power button sits next to the right speaker and glows white when the system …

Toshiba intros Excite 10 SE tablet with Jelly Bean, arriving on December 6 for $349.99

It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve heard any tablet news from Toshiba, but today the company has changed that by taking the wraps off of a new 10-inch Android slate. Dubbed the Excite 10 SE, the device features a 10.1-inch Autobrite HD display and a camera on its face as well as a 3-megapixel shooter on its backside. Also included with the Excite 10 SE is a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, 16GB storage, microSD card slot, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a “textured Fusion Lattice finish” that Toshiba claims will make the slate easier to hold and carry. If all of that sounds like it’d make for …

APNA 990 AM – NZ’S FAVOURITE 24 HR HINDI RADIO – Toshiba 4-legged Robot to Venture into Nuclear

Toshiba 4-legged Robot to Venture into Nuclear Power PlantsOne thing’s for sure – nuclear power plants are not exactly the safest place in the world to be, never mind that it delivers far more energy to the world compared to traditional methods, although there is the issue of disposing of nuclear waste in a clean and efficient manner. After all, all of that garbage will still need to go somewhere, right? Well, the massive earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March last year still lingers on in the memories of many, where entire towns were leveled, and the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant of Tokyo Electric Power Company Inc. was …

Toshiba Satellite U920T-108 Review | Laptops | CNET UK

The Satellite U920T is the first attempt from Toshiba at creating a Windows 8 hybrid device. It’s designed to let you enjoy the fun of a touchscreen along with a full physical keyboard and laptop components for tackling serious work. By combining tablet and laptop features, hybrid devices could be the answer if you’re struggling to decide which to spend your money on. All manufacturers have their own take on what they believe to be the best way to make a laptop transform. Toshiba is no exception and is pinning its hopes on a ‘slide then fold’ format. My review model came with an Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB of …

Toshiba VC: Windows 8 PC’s ‘rushed’

Wired’s Alexandra Chang yesterday published a must-read report on the state of the Windows 8 OEM community, noting that while there is certainly little ecstasy resulting from early sales figures, it’s not all despondency and missed targets. However, a key quote from Toshiba’s Jeff Barney, its VP head of its America’s PC work, belays a key material weakness in the current crop of Windows 8 computers that are up for sale [Formatting: TNW]: To be frank, the OEM community will bring better form factors to market. This first generation is a rush to get there in the beginning. They are not as commercially viable as they are media viable. Over time you will …

Q&A: How do I change the input on a Toshiba 2877DB television?

Question by renzokukenreddragon: How do I change the input on a Toshiba 2877DB television? I was given a Toshiba 2877DB television, with no manual. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get any of the scart inputs to work. I can’t even get an old games console to work on the coaxial port on the back. Where can I get a user manual or does anyone know what to press on the remote (which is the most useless remote I’ve ever seen)? I’ve googled it but all I get are service manuals, which aren’t relevant. Best answer: Answer by ThomasGoogle Toshiba 2877DB users manual. There are paid and free …
