Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Review – ComputerShopper.com
The innovative design sounds great on paper, but how does the Lenovo Yoga hold up in practice? Pretty darn well—though there are a few frustrating flaws hiding beneath that stately silver surface. ConfigurationsDon’t confuse the Yoga 13 with the Yoga 11, an ARM-powered Windows RT machine that Lenovo has released at the same time. Our Yoga 13 test configuration shipped with a 1.7GHz Intel Core i5-3317U low-voltage processor with integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 visuals, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB solid state drive. In other words, it boasts the exact same internals as many of the ultrabooks found on the market today. When we wrote this in late November …
Lenovo Yoga Review and how to fix trackpad bug and hard disk space
UPDATE | 1:22 P.M. Nov. 26, 2012 – Added link to updated trackpad driver from Lenovo at the end of the post and corrected photo cutline. After spending two weeks with the hottest Windows 8 Ultrabook around — the Yoga is flying off Best Buy store shelves — I have no regrets, even though I lost about $ 350 in the trade and the laptop has some drawbacks that require third-party fixes. In case you’ve missed the commercials, the Yoga’s patented hinge technology allows the screen to fold back 360 degrees, transforming the device into a tablet. It is an eye-catching and valuable feature. Most reviews, from Walt Mossberg to …
Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Review | Laptops | CNET UK
The large trackpad makes full use of the available space and offers a very easy surface for finger sliding. Its satisfying click helps make fast cursor movement, while web browsing for example, much more pleasant. Screen The 13.3-inch screen has a 1,600×900-pixel resolution, which is somewhat disappointing. Even though Dell’s XPS 12 is an inch smaller, it still manages to provide full 1080p resolution. If you’re particularly keen to use your machine for movies, the Dell is the better option — they both cost the same anyway. It’s not a poor resolution by any means though, so don’t expect any unpleasant fuzziness. Small text and icons are sharp and I …
Lenovo’s IdeaPad Yoga brings out the best and worst of Windows 8 (review)
As one of the first devices running Windows 8, Lenovo’s IdeaPad Yoga has as much to prove about Microsoft’s new operating system as it has to prove about itself. But the biggest question is this: Can Lenovo (which is now the PC market leader) show all other PC makers how to make a decent Windows 8 computer? So far, the answer seems to be yes. As with many other early Windows 8 devices, the IdeaPad Yoga is built on flexibility: It’s central selling point is its “transforming” mechanic: It can flip and fold into four different shapes, depending on how users feel like interacting with it. “Tent mode” works well for things …
Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Ultrabook Review
Lenovo’s IdeaPad Yoga 13 ultrabook is designed to give users flexibility in a way other ultrabooks don’t: This ultrabook features a unique hinge that lets the Yoga 13′s touchscreen display fold 360 degrees, converting the ultrabook from notebook mode to tablet mode. Thanks to its dual-hinge design, the Yoga 13 can also be used in “stand” or “tent” modes as well. The IdeaPad Yoga 13 runs on Windows 8. When used in notebook mode, the Yoga 13 gives you the full desktop side of Windows 8 with the added benefit of a touchscreen. In tablet, tent, or stand modes, you’ll appreciate all of the touch-friendly controls and features found within …
Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Laptop/Tablet Review
Windows 8 presents a dilemma for PC makers. It contains two very different user interfaces: a touch-oriented, tablet-like one with clusters of tiles, full-screen apps and an on-screen keyboard; plus the traditional Windows desktop and apps, which are best used with a mouse or a touch pad and physical keyboard. So the hardware companies are trying to create laptops that work well with both environments. This week, I’ve been testing one of the most creative and best-known of these new laptops, the $ 1,000 IdeaPad Yoga 13 from Lenovo. It takes its name from the fact that, like a yoga practitioner, it can contort itself into multiple positions, some of …
Review Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Ultrabook
At its closed position, the Yoga 13 closely resembles the IdeaPad U300s, a 2011 Lenovo Ultrabook that we praised for its design and quality. The matte silver lid and underside sandwiches the inner black case in a similar manner as the U300s. Nonetheless, the Yoga 13 is actually slightly thicker (16.9 mm vs. 14.9 mm) with a hard black base and inner display bezel. The chassis is matte on all areas, but with a distinct glossy display and surrounding edge-to-edge bezel that mimics the face of a typical tablet. Build material is plastic all around, but the manufacturer has avoided the “cheap plastic” feel by giving every surface (sans the display) …
Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 First Impressions: Ultrabook Convertible
The IdaPad Yoga 13 is an Ultrabook Convertible, a new style of Windows 8 device that transforms from a notebook to a tablet and back, offering flexibility not found in a standard notebook. The IdeaPad Yoga 13 runs a full version of Windows 8, offering more than the Windows Surface RT, and packs in an Intel 3rd generation Core i5 processor to offer plenty of power for productivity, casual games and watching movies. Lenovo designed the IdeaPad Yoga 13 with a dual hinge that allows the Ultrabook Convertible to open as a notebook and rotate completely around to tablet mode. Check out the versatility of the IdeaPad Yoga 13 in …
