In November 2006, William’s family (his wife Noel and children Calvin & Jordan) lost their 3 month old son/brother, Ian Westley Giger, to SIDS. They were given information about Camp Sol by a Children’s Medical Center Life Counselor and attended the March 2007 Camp Sol Family Retreat. The first year was really tough, but for the first time since Ian’s death, they felt like people really understood how they felt. It was very helpful to talk with families that were further in their grief process and shared a hope for the future. They had been coming to Camp Sol events for 4 years and decided that they wanted to do more to support an organization that supports “Healing the Family Heart”, so William volunteered to join the board. William and his family, Noel, Calvin (12), Jordan (9), Gavin (2), and Aaron (born 12/30/2010) miss Ian, but have found the smiles again and look forward to future Camp Sol events and helping other family’s find their new “Normal” and see the “Hope” for the future.
