Who can come to Camp Sol?
Camp Sol is specifically for families who have experienced the death of a child and have remaining siblings in the family. Attendees of Camp Sol may include immediate family members of the child who has died, including parents and siblings 18 years old or younger.
When is Camp Sol?
Camp Sol retreats take place twice a year and typically fall around the first weekends of March and October. Families may only attend one camp per calendar year to allow as many families to experience the retreats as possible.
Where is Camp Sol?
Camp Sol takes place at Camp John Marc in Meridian, TX. Families are responsible for transportation to and from camp, and a map will be provided to each family prior to the weekend retreat.
What does the Camp Sol schedule look like?
Programming and camp activities take place from Friday evening through Sunday morning. During the weekend there are support groups specifically for children and parents, as well as traditional camp activities to facilitate family bonding. Please visit the Family Retreat Weekend page for more information, including a sample schedule.
What are the accommodations at the facility?
Your family will be provided a private cabin with beds for each family member. You will need to bring your own sheets and bedding, as well as any personal items or toiletries. Camp food will be provided in family style format for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A menu for the weekend will be sent out to your family prior to the retreat. Please note any allergies or dietary restrictions on your application and be sure to bring any special food or medications you may need during this weekend. Please note, Camp John Marc is a nut-free facility.
What is the cost of the weekend retreat?
The family weekend retreats are free of cost. If you would like to help support Camp Sol financially, please visit the Donations page.
